Funding from the City Bridge Trust
The City Bridge Trust provides funding for access improvements under three headings:
- Accessible transport
- Accessible buildings
- Accessible Arts and Sports
The Accessible Buildings programme
CAE is working with the City Bridge Trust to provide support to voluntary and community groups based in London on all aspects of access to buildings, particularly organisations who are applying through the Accessible Buildings funding programme.
The programme provides funding for work with the following outcomes:
- third sector organisations make their buildings and services more accessible
- buildings within the third sector are better designed, constructed and equipped to meet the needs of disabled people
Applicants must:
- show that an independent access audit has been undertaken. Grants of up to £5,000 are available for this and do not preclude a further application for access works
- consult widely with disabled people on their access needs. These should be taken into account when drawing up the building plans
It is important that you include the needs of people with sensory impairments and learning difficulties and do not focus only on physical access.
