The Access Lab
The Access Lab aims to:
- raise awareness of inclusive design and accessibility issues through events, exhibitions and examples
- provide a place to facilitate dialogue between disabled people and built environment professionals
- act as a built exemplar of inclusive design principles
- provide training services
- be a resource centre for information about Inclusive design and the history of accessibility in the UK
- provide high quality fully accessible and affordable meeting spaces for local disability and voluntary groups
- facilitate improved forms of user consultation
The Access Lab will contain a range of facilities including:
- exhibition/events space
- training facilities
- testing and evaluation facilities
- meeting rooms
- information and educational resources
- inclusive design bookshop
- accessibility history archive
The Access Lab is aimed at a wide range of people including:
- all users of the built environment
- built environment professionals
- building owners and managers
- manufacturers and product designers
- disability groups and voluntary organisations
- people requiring training
- educationalists
